Description This was taken a few years ago just as autumn was getting into the swing of things at a park somewhere in Western Washington. While everything around this Japanese maple was resisting the pull of fall with everything it had, the maple itself was in full autumn regalia, setting it starkly apart from the rest of the forest. As I stood admiring this tree, an errant rainstorm passed over and drenched us, then allowed a single shaft of sunlight to pass through to shine RIGHT ON THIS TREE. A photographer couldn't ask for more!
